Simkins

David is an assistant professor of Game Design and Development at Rochester Institute of Technology’s School of Interactive Games and Media. He is also an affiliate of RIT’s MAGIC Studio and collaborates with the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. He earned his PhD from the games and learning group in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Steinkeuhler

Constance Steinkuehler is a Professor of Informatics at the University of California, Irvine where she investigates cognition and learning in multiplayer videogames in domains including literacy, scientific reasoning, mathematical reasoning, computational literacy, collective problem solving, sociability, attention, and emotional self-regulation. Her current interests also include cultural myths about videogames, women in the industry, and the role of eSports on college campuses (like UCI).

Pearce

Celia Pearce is a game designer and curator, She is the co-editor of Meet Me at the Fair: A World’s Fair Reader (ETC Press, 2014) and the author of Communities of Play (MIT Press, 2009), as well as numerous other books, papers, and book chapters. She is currently an Associate Professor of game design in the College of Arts Media and Design at Northeastern University.

Yee

Since earning a BFA from the Carnegie Mellon University School of Design and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts, I have been employed at various advertising agencies, design studios, and universities. My career path has been a three-forked road and always intersected: education, visual design, and advertising marketing.

Stone

Sandy Stone is Associate Professor in the Department of Radio, Television and Film at the University of Texas at Austin.  In the summers she teaches at the European Graduate School EGS in Switzerland.  Sandy’s background ranges from the golden era of Bell Labs, recording with Jimi Hendrix, and her latest adventure as a founding theorist of transdisciplinary New Media Art.

Garcia-Panella

Dr. Oscar Garcia-Panella holds a B.Sc. degree in Telecommunications, besides a M.Sc. and Ph. D degrees in Electronic Engineering, respectively, in 1995, 1998 and 2004. He’s enjoyed several stages abroad, like at the IMSC (Integrated Media Systems Center, University of Southern California – USC, Los Angeles, California, USA, 1998), at the VIS Lab (The Henry Samueli School of Engineering, University of California at Irvine – UCI, 2005) and at the Entertainment Technology Center (Carnegie Mellon University – CMU, 2008-2009).

Flanagan

Mary Flanagan is a creative pioneer and the founder of the Tiltfactor game lab at Dartmouth College. Her fifth book, Values at Play in Digital Games (with philosopher Helen Nissenbaum, 2014), demonstrates that thinking about human values is a key to innovation. Flanagan’s work has recently showcased The Atlantic and NPR.

Dumont

Jon-Paul, ETC Class of 2004, is the Senior Creative Director for King’s San Francisco Mobile Games Studio. He has shipped and operated facebook, mobile and console games for Disney, Zynga and Electronic Arts.

Wesner

I am a retired Mechanical Engineer. I have a degree from Carnegie (BS and PhD, both ME) and Caltech (MS ME). After serving in the U.S. Army (thanks to ROTC), I worked 31 years for Bell Laboratories, designing/developing telecom products. When I retired, I wanted to share my industry experiences, so I returned to CMU to teach, which I did for 14 years.
