Good video games tend to elicit numerous behaviors that can be used as the basis for enormous amounts of data that can be used to inform competency states. This begs the question of how video games can be used as assessment tools. In this workshop, we will present an implementation of a game-based assessment in the video game Newton’s Playground. As part of the activity, participants of the workshop will create problems that assess the competency of persistence.
