Well-designed games are not only engaging and enjoyable, but they can also provoke cognitive and affective engagement that may promote behavioral change. This is in fact the mission of the Lit2Quit mobile game designers and researchers. Drawing on cognitive and behavioral change research, Lit2Quit has designed a health game with an innovative breath-control design element, which by mimicking the physiological and perceived effects of nicotine could help smokers reduce or quit their smoking habit.
